Gilbert came out to see if he could figure out why my oven was not heating. Within an hour, he had identified and fixed the problem. He explained the process to me and before he left, he tested the oven to ensure that it was working properly again.
    Member Comments:
My first phone call was to receive an estimate on the service call. Gilbert was polite and asked all of the right questions. I didn't have all of the answers for him at the time but promised to call back in the evening once I was home and in front of the range. He helped me to locate the model number and ran through several different tests on the phone to try and narrow down the issue. He wanted to make sure that he had as much information as possible so that when he came out he would be as prepared as possible. He arrived on time and within just a few minutes he had my oven apart, the problem identified and was heading out to his van to retrieve a replacement part. Once he had everything put back together, he tested the oven to make sure that everything was back in working order. It was truly a pleasure working with him and I will certainly keep his number handy in case I need him for something else.

Ice Maker was not making ice and the senior technician, Mr. Gilbert Rubin determined that because no water was coming into the ice maker, that the ice maker was probably okay and that the problem was a leak somewhere. He promptly found a slice in the tubing going into the ice maker and repaired it. He was very professional, friendly and courteous and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

    Description Of Work:
This is the 2nd time I have called Crest Electric for a problem with an appliance.
My first problem about 12 days earlier - was the dryer that stopped working. he came with the part and had it fixed within the hour.
My problem this week was the stove electric heating element. Again - he came as soon as he could get the part from his supplier (due to their warehouse moving at the same time) - fixed the oven - checked the power to make sure it was not over wattage. again fixed within the hour.
    Member Comments:
My first experience - the electric dryer that stopped working. He came the very next day - part in hand and in less than an hour - the dryer was working great - yet again. This in combination - with Gilbert Rubin's sense of humor, stories and friendliness made us immediately know - if we had another problem - he would be the guy to call. Ten days later, my stove's electrical element blew up. I called on a Saturday - he answered the phone - said the warehouse was moving its location after 26 years - argh. He said he would call as soon as they were back open for business. Tuesday morning I got a text that they were back in business and could he come at 12 noon.
Prompt as usual - he brought the part, his humor, his stories and quickly replaced the broken part, checked the wattage to make sure it was not getting too much. He than brought up his iPad - gave me some useful sites........
So now he is Gilbert and the guy to call. Over and above the average - and a credit to his industry.

Gilbert Rubin was able to give me information on my oven based on a few pictures I emailed him, and gave me some advice to get it working again without having to make a service call.
    Member Comments:
I used Crest Repair a few months ago when my dryer stopped working. So when I got the panicked yell from my wife that the oven wasn't working, I knew who I would be calling. Since it was late on a Sunday, I figured it wasn't worth calling then, but I took a few pictures so Mr. Rubin could identify the oven, and emailed them to him, telling him I would be calling the next morning. When I got up and checked my email, he already contacted me, telling me about the oven, and that it was 30-40 years old! He said the cost to repair it would most likely be more than the oven was worth. I told my wife it was time to start looking for a new oven. However, he also told me to give him a call when I had a chance. When I talked to him on the phone, he gave me several things I should try to do, to see if I could get the oven working again. When I had a chance, I got back to the oven, tried poking and prodding around at all the various things that he suggested, and suddenly the oven light went on!!! My wife was out with the kids at that point, so I quickly threw some stuff in the oven for dinner, and when she came back, told her that I had a big surprise. When she walked in the kitchen and saw the food cooking, she was delighted. We just recently had to buy a new furnace (that review is coming) so didn't want to have to oven shop yet. This will give us a little bit of breathing time, and hopefully later in the year we'll be able to replace the oven without having to rush it. As I said in my previous review, I happily recommend Crest to anyone who needs repair service!

Gilbert Rubin is extremely professional. We initially used him to look at a dishwasher that stopped working. He told us the fee foe examining this appliance when we made the appointment. He arrived on time. Spent nearly two hours diagnosing the problem and trying alternative repairs before concluding that a motherboard part was needed. After weighing the alternatives we decided to scrap this dishwasher and purchase a new one.
We contacted Mr. Rubin a second time in November 2012. The door latch on our drying was no longer operating correctly. He described a simple repair I could try, and said that if that didn't work to give him a call back. His suggestion worked. There was no charge for his honest advice.

I called this company because I was pleased with past services. I explained that once the electricity came back on after a storm, my ice maker (which hadn't worked in years) started to leak water at a rapid rate. After more discussion, he told me he would come out to look at the problem, but based on what I had told him (and he had seen during an earlier visit) I probably needed a plumber to fix the problem. He said in older houses, the valve to the ice maker was probably so old that it would break off if he started to work on it. At that point, he was not qualified to fix the plumbing. I called a plumbing company I had used before to get the work done. I will submit a report on that company too.
    Member Comments:
It went very well. If I had not called him, I would not had know to call a plumber. Shortly after this call, I bought a new refrigerator. Without getting the pipe fixed first, when the refrigerator arrived the company could not have completed the installment. Instead, the installation went very smoothly.

Diagnosed a non-operating dryer, replaced the broken belt.
    Member Comments:
So my dryer stopped working. Press the start button, and nothing at all. *Sigh* I looked up on the internet about things to check for to try to figure out the problem. I pulled the dryer away from the wall to check a few things out, and in the process pulled out the metal hose that vents the exhaust air outside. *Groan* Okay, forget this, I'm looking for someone who knows what he's doing! I went to Angie's List and looked at a few companies. Crest is local to me, and the reviews all look good. I called them up as soon as they opened in the morning. They were able to send a technician to me before lunch!
Gilbert Rubin arrived and immediately starting checking out the various knick-knacks on the dryer. He asked me if I took anything apart already. No, honest, after I pulled it out, I stopped there! (I'm not sure he completely believed me though). While he was testing things, he explained what he was doing and how the parts were supposed to work. Finally he opened up another compartment, and after checking a few more things, saw the broken belt sitting back there. Ah, that's what it was. None of the "check it yourself" things I saw on the internet covered this anyway. Mr. Rubin had a replacement in his van and soon had the dryer dismantled and the belt replaced. After he put it back together again, I went to reattach the metal hose that I popped out before. Ugh, I found a hole in it, about 4 fingers wide! No wonder there's a lot of lint back there! Mr. Rubin had some new hose in his van and was able to replace it for me much more easily than I would have been able to figure out how to do by myself. He also showed me how to rebalance the washing machine after we moved it around (something I didn't even know needed to be done). I happily recommend Crest to anyone who needs repair service!

    Broken washing machine
    Member Comments:
Our washing machine broke down at the worst time. I called at 6 PM and was so happy that someone answered the phone. I was stunned that he actually was willing to problem solve with me on the phone. In the end it was determined that it would cost more to fix my machine than to buy another. So unfortunately I had to get a new washer. But I saved a diagnostic and trip fee! What a great company! I plan to use them in the future.

older washer stopped working. Left msg. for Crest, got an immed. return call. Repairman asked a few questions, said he could be at my home in 1/2 hour. He arrived on time, quickly diagnosed problem and explained my options, but said he would not recommend the repair due to the cost of repair and age of machine. Description Of Work:
I called Crest Appliance Repair after several unsuccessful attempts to find someone to service my 1996 Crosley dryer. The person who answered the phone helped me troubleshoot over the phone resulting in a fixed dryer. He even called back to be sure the fix was successful. I can't believe there are still people out there that are willing to provide this level of personal service. Thanks for keeping my dryer rolling for a while longer Crest!!!

Since this Angie'sList customer was 150 miles away on the Chesapeake Bay and very much out of our service area, I was happy to be able to diagnose his dryer sucessfully over the phone saving him further frustration! I must admit when I read his report the first thing noticed was " HIRE AGAIN--NO!" LOL I thought oh,oh what did I do!

Went great overall. I was happy that I was able to get an appointment the same morning I called. He was on time and patient as I dealt with my overexcited dogs. Description Of Work:
Crest Appliance "unclogged" my freezer. My refrigerator was not staying cold. When the technician came out he removed the back panel inside my freezer to reveal the entire inside was frozen over so the panel was not operating correctly. He took a hair dryer to the ice to chip it away, repaired the necessary part and we were back in operation!
    Member Comments:
My mother found Crest Appliance on Angie's List and recommended them to me. Our refrigerator was acting up and not staying cold. The freezer was cool but not keeping things frozen. I called Crest and explained the situation. The Technician walked me through a few things on the phone (like checking the ice maker) before determining what he thought was wrong and telling me he could come out that afternoon.

He arrived a few hours later and after inspecting the unit, determined he needed to empty the freezer to remove the back panel. He asked if I had a cooler and helped me unload all the food items into the cooler and even carried it to the garage for me so it wouldn't scratch my hardwood floors. After removing the back panel he showed me how the unit was completely frozen over inside and explained to me how the freezer is what keeps the refrigerator cool and since the unit was frozen it couldn't regulate the temperature. He then took a hair dryer and screwdriver to the ice to clean it out. Knowing this would cause quite a mess he asked for towels ahead of time and covered the floor to keep is dry and protected. After the ice was removed he replaced the broken part, put the panel back on and helped to restock the freezer.

He was extremely helpful, prepared, knowledgeable and courteous. I appreciated his respect of my property and helping me preserve and protect it.

I contacted Crest Appliance about 5 months later when my ice maker was not working (it had not been working for some time before I had them come out for the freezer and we were hoping by "unclogging" the inside of the freezer it would help the ice maker to work again.) Once again he walked me through a few steps over the phone and was able to determine what was wrong and gave me an estimate as to how much it would cost to fix. Due to the part that was broken it was going to be a costly repair. After putting money into the unit once before my Husband and I determined the unit would be better off replaced then repairing over and over. Once we made this decision I called Crest to let him know. He was very understanding on the phone and even told me he completely understood our reasoning. It was nice that he seems knowledgeable enough to not waste time or money on an in-home consultation and that there was no pressure to go through with the repair. As it turns out my Husband and I still have the same unit without having done any more repairs since the new fridge/freezer we want it quite expensive. If we decide to continue to keep our current refrigerator I wouldn't hesitate for a second to call Crest if we need further repairs
